The winter months can really do some damage to your skin. The air is more dry when it gets colder which can easily dry out your skin. I have very oily skin and my skin goes from oily, to normal in the winter so I can only imagine what it can do to dry skin. I have a couple tips on how you can keep your skin healthy, glowy, and hydrated in the winter. I think skincare is so important year round. I typically spend more money on skincare because my skin isn’t something I can just wash off at the end of the day. It’ll be with me forever and I want to take care of it the best I can!
My first tip is to get a moisturizing day cream and night cream.
Even if you’re oily like me, you really need to hydrate you’re skin both day and night. Some people might think that hydrating oily skin will make them more oily but it’s actually the opposite because you’re balancing out your skin. If you are oily, just use an oil free moisturizer during the day! Since I am oily I use two different moisturizers for the day time. I like to use the Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion underneath the Origins Ginzing moisturizer. The Dermalogica lotion really controls my oil and keeps me matte, but can be a little drying in the winter, but the Origins moisturizer really hydrates my skin and brightens my complexion without making me shiny. For dry and sensitive skin (or just dry skin!) the Clinique Moisture Surge. It’s VERY hydrating and gentle on the skin and can be used night and day.
For night cream I either like to use a very hydrating moisturizer or a facial oil. Again, I’m very oily but I really like to hydrate my skin at night. Oil fights oil and really balances your skin out and won’t make you as oily of you have oily/combo skin. I really like to use either the Caudalìe Divine Oil or the Origins High-Potency Night-a-Mins. This is a very rich, brightening night time moisturizer that you’ll really see a difference in your skin while using.
I last thing I like to use is a moisturizing facial scrub. I like to make my own buy using sugar in the raw, coconut oil, olive oil, and sweet orange extract for a very moisturizing, and brightening, facial treatment. I use this scrub 2-3 times a week and I’ve definitely noticed a difference in my skins texture and all my dark spots. You really want to use a scrub in the winter time because it’ll take away all your dry, dead skin, that will just end up making you more dry.
So the key to healthy and soft skin in the winter is properly hydrating your skin! Weather you’re very oily to very dry, everyone needs to moisturize and take care of their skin!
