REVIEW! L’Oreal Youth Code Texture Perfector Pore Vanisher

I posted on Instagram a couple weeks ago that I was trying out the new L’Oreal Youth Code Texture Perfector Pore Vanisher and would keep y’all posted on my thoughts and I have finally came to a conclusion about this product! It has been compared to the Benefit POREfessional, which is a very popular pore minimizing primer! I think it has similar qualities to the POREfessional but not exactly the same. I have such a love hate relationship with this product but I know I will continue to use it. Okay, so lets get to the pros!

Pros: It really does what it says! It really blurs the look of pores and makes your skin look flawless! You put this on as a primer under your foundation and it really fills in your pores, and evens out your skin tone. It has a cooling and hydrating texture too it, and I love that it is a beige color!  It’s a pretty decent size bottle and you only need a tiny bit so you get a lot out of the product for the price! Being a drugstore product, it’s easily accessible!

Cons: It says that it is oil-free, but doesn’t claim to keep you shine-free, so I get really oily midday using this product. But if you have dry to normal skin it will be fine for you!

Overall, I love the way this product makes my skin look! But I hate that it makes me shiny! I have been using an oil controlling primer, and then the Pore Vanisher over it, and then continue with my foundation routine, but it’s a lot of steps!

The Pore Vanisher is $20 for a 1.4 FL OZ bottle and the Benefit POREfessional is $30 for .75 FL OZ! So you’re getting a lot more product in the Pore Vanisher for cheaper also. Like I said before, these products are not exact dupes, but they’re very similar!

Have fun!

My all-time favorite mascara’s!

Mascara is one of my favorite things to try when it comes to beauty products! I have tried TONS of mascaras and I have figured out what I like and what I don’t like. I’ll be sharing with you five of my absolute favorite mascara’s that I always go back to!

5. MAKE-UP FOREVER Smoky Lash Mascara

This mascara is a fairly dry formula, so you can either have a natural lash, or build it for a pretty dramatic lash with this product. I really love this mascara because all you need is a few coats to really achieve a great looking lash. This mascara is a volumizing mascara, but will hold a curl very well if you  use an eyelash curler.

4. Lancome Hypnose Mascara

I feel like this mascara is constantly hyped up, but for a very good reason! This mascara is such an all in one mascara. It volumizes, and lengthens in just a couple coats, and isn’t too difficult to take off!

3. Maybelline the Falsies Mascara

This mascara is so cheap, and gets the job done so well when it comes to mascara. Is is a fairly wet formula, so it takes a couple days to dry up a little bit and really gives you the effect you want. It takes me a few coats to get the lashes that I like with this mascara, but the effect it gives is so worth it!

2. L’Oreal Shocking Extensions Mascara

The Shocking Extensions mascara is one of those make-up items that I cannot live without. It makes my lashes so long with just a couple coats. It holds a curl all day, and is easy to wash off!

1. L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

This is seriously the best mascara that I have ever used. I think I started using this mascara when I was about 14! It gives you the most voluminous, and thick lashes in just a couple coats. It feels like a high-end mascara, and gives better results than some of my expensive mascaras. This mascara really reminds me of the Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara, it’s a pretty good dupe! L’Oreal Voluminous is always in my make-up bag!

I hope you found this helpful, and encourage you to try out some new mascaras if you haven’t tried any of these out before!

xoxo Audrey

My all-time favorite lipsticks!

I think it’s pretty obvious that I’m a huge mascara junkie! But after mascara, I think I’m a pretty huge lipstick junkie! I just think lipstick is one of those things that you can’t have too many of. These are my five favorite lipsticks ever!

5. Revlon Pink Sugar

Pink Sugar is a really nice mix between a nude and a pink. It’s pretty shimmery, so I usually wear it on its own, rather than with a gloss, but you can do whatever you want!

4. Milani Flirty Fuchsia

I love a hot pink lip, and Flirty Fuchsia is by far my favorite pink in my collection! It’s really bright, but yet blue toned so it makes your teeth look whiter! I think this is a pink that any skin tone can pull off.

3. MAC Rebel

I guess I should let you know now, I LOVE bold lips. Rebel is the perfect mix of a dark, yet bright lipstick. It’s a dark plumy-pinky color that I love to whip out when the weather cools down.

2. Milani Dulce Caramelo

This is the most perfect nude shade. It’s pretty much a “my lips but better” color but with a hint of gold shimmer!

1. MAC Ruby Woo

Ruby Woo is by far my favorite lipstick of all time! It’s such a beautiful red color that is so flattering on everyone. It’s a blue toned red, so it’ll make your teeth look white also! But it’s also matte, which is how I like to wear my bold lipsticks!

Just a tip! If you ever want to make your lipstick matte, or more matte just use some powder over your lips or the same shade eyeshadow on your lips. For example if you are wearing a creamy red lip, if you have a red eyeshadow, or cranberry eyeshadow around simply press it onto your lips and it will give your lipstick more dimension and matte! If you don’t have a matching eyeshadow, just use a translucent powder or simply your face powder onto your lips!

If you’re scared of bold lips, hopefully you’ll try these because they honestly look so good on everyone! Have fun!

HOW TO: Deal with your breakouts!

Breakouts and acne are something everyone doesn’t want to deal with. It’s frustrating and annoying. I’ve tried a lot of products to help with breakouts and I’ve gathered some tips I have figured out over the years to help with breakouts!

First off, why are you breaking out? The cheeks are the most common area on your face that you break out. If you are breaking out on your cheeks quit touching your face! Dirt and oil get on your face from your grubby little hands and clog your pores, causing you to break out. Also, disinfect your phone, and wash your pillowcase! AND!  The biggest tip in my opinion is to wash your make-up brushes often. Bacteria start to grow on your brushes from the old make-up and oils on your face and can be really damaging to your skin.

When you have a breakout there are a few ingredients that you need to look for when treating your acne, or just a breakout.

Salicylic Acid is in lots of acne medication. It is most common in aspirin, so if you have a breakout crush up some aspirin, add water, and use it as a DIY spot treatment!  I like to use the St. Ives Green Tea Scrub to help prevent breakouts since this has Salicylic Acid as a main ingredient.

Benzoyl Peroxide is another ingredient that is in lots of acne medication. If you want an effective spot treatment, look for one that has 10% or more benzoyl peroxide. My favorite is the Clean and Clear Maximum Strength Persa-Gel *10

Another great drying product is Sulfuric Acid. This is a REALLY drying ingredient for spots. The most effective way I like to use this is with an overnight drying lotion such as the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. Sulfuric Acid doesn’t always work with every one’s skin type. My cousin actually gave me this product because it didn’t work for her at all! But it worked really well on my skin and it’s my favorite thing to use for spots! The way you use this is you grab a Q-Tip, stick it all the way down into the pink lotion at the bottom of the bottle and simply dab it onto your spot. The next morning it’ll be dried up and a lot smaller! But whatever you do, DO NOT SHAKE THIS PRODUCT! It ruins the product forever!

What I think is my product though for breakouts is Tea Tree Oil. Tea tree oil can be used for many different things, and skincare is one of them! You just put it on a cotton round and dab it on your spot, or use it all over your face as an acne treatment. This really heals the breakout(s) and cleanses the pores and gets really deep down and digs the dirt out. Tea tree oil can get kind of expensive for such a little bottle, but I found that Target and Trader Joe’s have them for a pretty decent price.

Before you use a spot treatment, you should cleans your skin using a very gentle cleanser. When I’m having breakouts I like to use the Purpose Facial Cleanser, or Cetaphil Cleanser. These cleansers are so gentle and won’t make your skin irritated or anything.

purpose cleansercetaphil-daily-facial-cleanser-8oz-1_1

After cleansing, using a scrub can really help with breakouts. Scrubs take away any dead skin and dirt that may be lingering on your skin that can contribute to breakouts. My favorite scrubs are Lush’s Ocean Salt scrub, and St. Ives Green Tea scrub like I mentioned earlier. Ocean Salt is a hydrating scrub that scrubs away blackheads and clogged pores, and blemishes. Use a scrub with really hot water so the steam really opens up your pores and the scrub is really effective. While your pores are still open from the hot steaming water apply our masks so you can receive all the benefits from the masks.

The last thing I like to use for breakouts are masks that really help with cleansing and really digging out the dirt in your pores. Charcoal masks, and cleansers are really great for problematic skin because they really get deeeeeep into the skin, and leave your face so soft, supple, and left with a really clean feeling.  My favorite masks for doing this is the skin is Origins Clear Improvement: Active charcoal mask and Lush’s Cupcake Fresh Face Mask.

After your breakout is treated you might be left with a scar. If you scar, my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE BEAUTY PRODUCT IN THE ENTIRE WORLD IS: Ambi Fade Cream for Oily Skin (they have ones for dry and normal skin too!) Ambi is only $5 and it’s seriously the best stuff I’ve ever used for scars. I always scar after a breakout and after a couple weeks it’s completely gone after using Ambi twice a day for about two weeks. If you’re constantly struggling with scarring and dark spots, try using skincare products that claim to be brightening, but be careful because sometimes they can bleach your towels! Also, be sure to always wear sunscreen if you struggle with dark spots and scars. When you go into the sun, those scars and dark spots just get darker and ultimately harder to get rid of!

I know this was a really long post but hopefully you got something out of it and learned a couple new tips or two on how to deal with breakouts, acne, and scars!

Valentine Lips and Nails!

Valentines day is this week and I know everyone is doing “Valentine make-up looks” and whatnot! But, I realized that not every feels comfortable wearing pink/rose color shades on their eyes. Pink shades can be pretty intimidating because when they’re not properly applied, they can make you look sick or washed out! If you’re one of those people you can incorporate the holiday of love into your look in a couple of different ways!

I love wearing pink lips! Pink is a really cute way to amp up your Valentines look without looking too over the type and like you’re trying to hard!

lipswatchpinkandnudeswatch(first picture: MAC Ruby Woo, Rimmel Apocaliptic, Revlon Pink Pop) (Second picture: Milani Fruit Punch, Rimmel Nude Delight)

My current favorite pink is the Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer in Apocaliptic. These lip lacquer’s are really shiny, creamy, and long wearing! They’re super opaque, true to color and don’t dry out your lips! Apocaliptic is my favorite shade out of the entire line! This shade of pink is a pretty good dupe for MAC Girl About Town.

If this lip shade is too bright and bold for you, Milani’s lipstick in 11 Fruit Punch is such a classic pink. It’s not too pale, and it’s not too bright. It is a very traditional flattering shade. And it smells delicious!

Don’t like lipsticks? Don’t wear them! If you want a more sheer pink color to your lips Revlon’s Super Lustrous lip gloss in Pink Pop is actually one of my favorite lip glosses of all time! I wear it everyday! It’s a very sheer, but noticeable pink that makes you look awake and healthy!

If you’re looking for a red MAC Ruby Woo is my absolute favorite red of all time. Nothing compares to this shade! It’s a VERY matte bright red that stays on forever and is so flattering on all skin tones!

Last but not least, if you’re looking for a great nude lipstick, try Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in Nude Delight. This nude lipstick reminds me so much of MAC Jubilee. I know some other beauty bloggers will say this is a dupe for a few other nude MAC lipstick, but for my skin tone, it looks just like Jubilee on my lips!

If you want to be more festive with your nail color, I have a few favorites that would do the trick!

My current favorite pink’s are Revlon’s Bubble Gum and OPI Sweetheart. Bubble Gum is such a true blue-toned pink that looks great on every skin tone! Plus this nail polish is scented so who wouldn’t want that?! As for the OPI shade, it’s a pale baby pink that is pretty opaque with just one coat. This color goes with every outfit and any kind of look you’re trying to go for!

My favorite red of all time is OPI’s Big Apple Red. It’s just a true red that you can wear anytime of the year, not just Christmas like some red’s! A really good dupe for this nail polish is Wet and Wild I Red a Good Book. It’s creamy, opaque, and really similar in the shade of the red as the OPI color!

If you’re looking to add some sparkle, try out the Wet and Wild Mega Rock Glitters. I have the pink, red, and silver shades and it’s such a great way to make any manicure look so fun!

I like to mix in a little purple every now and then for Valentines day, and my favorite purple hands down is Essie Play Date! It’s so flattering and makes your hands look so elegant and as weird as this sounds, slim! haha

January Favorites!

In January I had the opportunity to try a lot of new products! Some I loved, some I didn’t but I’m just going to share with you the products that were my favorite this month!

My first most absolute favorite of the month was the Lorac Pro Pallet. This pallet has gotten a lot of hype and I was a little skeptical of it because it’s a fairly basic pallet. But I started using this at the end of December and I have not put it down! It’s so easy to get a really natural look or a very dramatic look. It’s also very easy to transition from day to night with this pallet! You can get thisat Ulta for $42.

My favorite nude lip combo of the month was most definitely Revlon’s Super Lustrous lipstick in Pink Cognito and Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss in Super Natural. This is the most perfect pinky-nude lip combo without being too pink, or too nude (if that makes any sense!). And it’s from the drugstore so it’s cheap!

I got pretty into skincare this month, and one of my favorite skincare products was Lush’s Breath of Fresh Air toner. I wash my face, and then I spray this all over and it’s such a refreshing, relaxing toner that really helps your skin with breakouts and creates a continuous glow. You can get this at Lush for about $10.

I have been dying to try the Nume curling wands for so long, and finally this month I got the Lustrum Curling Iron, which is a curling wand that come with 5 attachments. I have been loving the curl that the 32mm wand gives me. It leaves your hair with such beachy, wavy hair that will actually hold all day!

My last favorite is also a hair care product! It’s the new L’Oreal Volume Filler line, which includes the shampoo, conditioner, the serum, and the mousse. I have fine, long hair and I’m not even joking, this made my hair look and feel so thick! It gives me crazy volume and my hair actually feels thicker after shampooing it! If you have fine, thin hair, I HIGHLY suggest this line!

Those were all my favorites! I didn’t have very many, but I have been pretty loyal to all these products!

Have fun!
