February Favorites!

Happy February!

I got out of the habit of doing monthly favorites, because I wasn’t using new products! At the beginning of the month I ran out all my skincare and a lot of make-up I use daily. I picked up a few new things that I have really loved!

Skincare Favorites:

I picked up the Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. I have super dry under-eye’s and this stuff works! It’s one of the “cheaper” eye creams I have used ($26). It is so hydrating, and my concealer applies so smooth and flawless! Dare I say it, but this Kiehl’s eye cream is better than the Bobbi Brown eye cream ($50-$70) I’ve used for years!

The sales woman at the Kiehl’s counter talked me into picking up the Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturing Serum Concentrate. I don’t know how she did it because I always do my research before going into a department store so I cannot get talked into buying things! But I think this is a fairly new item because I’ve never even heard of it before! Maybe it’s just new to me! It has a weird texture, it’s not thick and oily like a normal serum, it feels kind of watery, yet effective. I pat this on my skin morning and night before I apply my moisturizer, which I found is the best way to use this. It really evened out my skin and faded a lot of my dark spots!

Make-up Favorites:

I picked up the Maybelline Fit Me! Matte and Poreless foundation. I love the original Fit Me! foundation so I was super excited when I saw they made a matte version! This formula I wouldn’t say is matte, but I would call it natural! It doesn’t make me super oily after a couple of hours, but it does leave me with a very natural skin-like finish that I love!

Maternity Favorites:

I’m still obsessed with my Biggs & Featherbelle Belly Balm! It is very thick and oily but is so moisturizing and nourishing, especially in this cold weather! I just use this on my stomach, back, and chest area. I use my daily Vaseline body lotion on my legs, arms, and feet. I’m trying my hardest to prevent stretch marks and so far, I don’t have any! (knock on wood!). I got this item for Christmas so I’m not 100% sure where you can buy this in store, but you can grab it on Amazon!

I am OBSESSED with the Motherhood Maternity Seamless Tank Top. It’s seriously the most comfortable tank top I have ever worn! It’s long so it covers my entire belly and stretchy so it will grow with my growing tummy! I wear one of these tank tops everyday!

Being pregnant, I’ve had a hard time sticking to an exercise routine. The most cardio I can personally do is walking and any kind of squats are out the window! I’ve been using my resistance band for some simple arm and leg workouts and it’s made me feel a lot better about myself! I have always been pretty good to sticking to a daily workout routine but being pregnant, I can’t do a lot of the workouts I was doing before. Who would have thought a simple $10 resistance band would have made me feel a heck of a lot better about myself!

So that’s it! Hopefully I’ll try more things in March so I can get back into the habit of doing monthly favorites again! Let me know if you have tried any of these items! 🙂

REVIEW! Maybelline the Nudes Pallet

This pallet has been out for a while now, but I finally got my hands on it! Maybelline has released a “proper” eyeshadow pallet. I would describe it as a cross between Urban Decay’s Naked pallet and the first Lorac Pro Pallet.

There are 12 shadows, 8 shimmers, and 4 matte shades, which retails for $10. When I first swatched them, I wasn’t super impressed. They didn’t seem very pigmented to me, and the texture was a little weird. I have been using this for a few days now and I think I have an overall understanding of this product.

The first time I used this pallet I didn’t use an eyeshadow primer, just to check out the longevity. To my surprise, it actually held up pretty well! There was minimal creasing, but it held up for over 12 hours! I have tried it with an eyeshadow primer also and it lasts just as long but without the creasing! 🙂

I recommend using these shadows with a primer. Something like, Maybelline Color Tattoo’s in Bold Gold, or Bad to the Bronze. Another great primer that worked well with this product was the MAC Paint Pot in Constructivist. Using this pallet with these primers really brings out the bronzy, gold hue that this pallet gives off!

Overall, if you’re looking for an inexpensive, drugstore neutral pallet, I would check this one out! I honestly thought I was going to be disappointed, but it surprised me! I found mine for $10 at Target!

Have you tried this? Let me know what you think! 🙂

August Favorites!

Well Hello! I haven’t posted a new blog all summer! I’ve had the busiest summer! I GOT MARRIED! Planning a wedding sucked up 99% of my summer, but it was so worth it!

Since it’s the beginning of the month, and i haven’t posted a blog in forever, I thought I would fill you in with what I’ve been loving lately!

The first thing I bought early in the month and haven’t stopped using it, is the NARS lipgloss in Stolen Kisses. O.M.G. This lipgloss is so pretty! NARS recently changed their formula, so their lipgloss’s are now creamy, not sticky, and opaque. This is also a great color for that “Kylie Jenner” lip trend that has been going around lately.

Another lip product i have been loving that also falls into the “Kylie Jenner” lip trend is the Essence Long Lasting LIpstick in 06 Barely There. This is a really long lasting lipstick for a $3 lipstick! It’s creamy and moisturizing, and is the perfect “Kylie Jenner” lip shade.

I have been using the Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous foundation. I believe this is about $6-$7 at the drugstore and is just fabulous! It’s long lasting, and has pretty good coverage for not being too heavy.

I’ve been pairing Maybelline Fit Me concealer with the Covergirl foundation. The Fit Me concealer is a fairly sheer concealer but it gives the most flawless effect and covers up my dark circles pretty well!

For setting the Fit Me concealer I’ve been using the Essence All About Matt! powder. Don’t be alarmed by the fact that it’s white! It’s completely sheer and sets my concealer so well! It doesn’t budge at all during the day, and it’s even nice to swipe over your t-zone midday. You can find Essence at Ulta, in the drugstore section!

My last makeup favorite is a bronzer that I have had for a while now! It’s the Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Medium 2. This is just a matte bronzer that’s great for contouring and overall bronzing. I’ve had this for months now and I just hit pan this month! It’s really long lasting, and looks very natural.

For skincare I just have two favorites!

I’ve been removing my makeup with the Garnier Clean Nourishing Cleansing Oil. You simply just pump a few pumps in your (dry) hands, and gently rub away your eye makeup. The dry oil on the dry skin just dissolves all my eye makeup! My favorite part is that it only takes about 20 seconds for all my eye makeup to come off! And for those of you who know me personally, you know I like to wear a lot of mascara! 🙂

After I have taken off all my eye makeup I have been using the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser. I have heard a couple things about this face cleanser and I was really interested to try it out for myself! It takes off my makeup very gently, but effectively! After using this face cleanser and my Clarisonic I don’t have a bit of makeup left on my face!

So, those were all my favorites for the month of August! Let me know what your favorites of the month are!

My all-time favorite mascara’s!

Mascara is one of my favorite things to try when it comes to beauty products! I have tried TONS of mascaras and I have figured out what I like and what I don’t like. I’ll be sharing with you five of my absolute favorite mascara’s that I always go back to!

5. MAKE-UP FOREVER Smoky Lash Mascara

This mascara is a fairly dry formula, so you can either have a natural lash, or build it for a pretty dramatic lash with this product. I really love this mascara because all you need is a few coats to really achieve a great looking lash. This mascara is a volumizing mascara, but will hold a curl very well if you  use an eyelash curler.

4. Lancome Hypnose Mascara

I feel like this mascara is constantly hyped up, but for a very good reason! This mascara is such an all in one mascara. It volumizes, and lengthens in just a couple coats, and isn’t too difficult to take off!

3. Maybelline the Falsies Mascara

This mascara is so cheap, and gets the job done so well when it comes to mascara. Is is a fairly wet formula, so it takes a couple days to dry up a little bit and really gives you the effect you want. It takes me a few coats to get the lashes that I like with this mascara, but the effect it gives is so worth it!

2. L’Oreal Shocking Extensions Mascara

The Shocking Extensions mascara is one of those make-up items that I cannot live without. It makes my lashes so long with just a couple coats. It holds a curl all day, and is easy to wash off!

1. L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

This is seriously the best mascara that I have ever used. I think I started using this mascara when I was about 14! It gives you the most voluminous, and thick lashes in just a couple coats. It feels like a high-end mascara, and gives better results than some of my expensive mascaras. This mascara really reminds me of the Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara, it’s a pretty good dupe! L’Oreal Voluminous is always in my make-up bag!

I hope you found this helpful, and encourage you to try out some new mascaras if you haven’t tried any of these out before!
